hotels near Disneyland: Del Sol Inn review

I have been having a lot of fun sharing hotels near Disneyland with you this year. When I’m sharing travel content my desire is always to show you–(1) That travel doesn’t have to stop when you have kids, and (2) That you can travel on any budget. With that in mind today I have a very budget-friendly option if you’re planning a trip to Disneyland. However, don’t let the term “budget” scare you off. What this no-frills choice lacks in extras, it more than makes up for with a prime location. Keep reading for our Del Sol Inn Anaheim review.

Del Sol Inn Anaheim review

We stayed at the Del Sol Inn when we visited the Disneyland Resort in May. At the time when I booked I was really focusing on trying to find a good deal and trying to find something close to the parks. For our family we’ve learned that being able to easily get back and forth from the hotel to the parks is a big bonus. So I was pretty pleased to find a decent deal on a two Queen + bunkbed room that was so close to the Disneyland Esplanade.

proximity to attractions

Like I’ve said, this Del Sol Inn review wouldn’t be complete without focusing on the amazing location. This is the closest we’ve yet stayed to the parks at the Disneyland Resort. It’s conveniently located on Harbor Boulevard across from the parks but tucked behind a Denny’s so you avoid the street noise. It is a very small motel and the parking situation can be tricky. Luckily, if you’re like us you can leave your car in the same spot during your entire stay because it’s so easy to walk to the parks and restaurants!

Distance of Del Sol Inn Anaheim from:

  • Disneyland Esplanade: you’re LITERALLY across the street
  • Disneyland Hotel: .7 mile
  • Anaheim Garden Walk: .6 mile
  • Honda Center: 3.5 miles
  • LGB (Long Beach Airport): 21 miles
  • Balboa Pier: 21 miles

family-friendly amenities

Del Sol Inn doesn’t have extra “fluff”. The lobby is tiny and there’s no market. There aren’t planned activities or movie nights for kids. However, it does have a nice pool area that’s perfect for a break from the parks on a hot afternoon. It’s actually quite peaceful with walls of climbing Jasmine and a relaxing hot tub for mom and dad to enjoy while the kids splash around.

room details

We stayed in a two Queen + bunkbed room. Del Sol Inn also offers rooms with a single King bed or two Queens. The rooms are situated over two floors with exterior entries. Some rooms are located over parking and I’ve heard those rooms are quietest–however we didn’t have any problem with noise from other guests during our stay. The rooms are a little older and bathrooms a little smaller than others you’ll find in the area, but everything was clean and I feel like the price reflects what you get.

other things to mention

Even though the Del Sol Inn is right across from Harbor Boulevard entrance to Disneyland you will not be able to see fireworks from your room. The view is blocked since the hotel isn’t right on Harbor. Oftentimes one of the benefits of staying close to the magic is being able to watch fireworks from your hotel so I wanted to make sure you were aware. Honestly though, if all you’re looking for is accommodations that are super close with a pool to cool off in, we would definitely recommend Del Sol Inn when you can find it for a good deal. We were able to get our room for around $200 a night, which is a decent deal for a room that close to the parks. In my opinion, if you can’t get it for that price, look elsewhere.

Would you stay at this budget, no-frills option?
