August 10 is National S’mores Day and if there’s any National holiday I can get behind, it’s that one. Our family loves s’mores. Whether they’re traditional s’mores cooked around the campfire, or more unique s’mores recipes–we just can’t get enough. when were s’mores invented?

It was all the way back in the 1890s that people started roasting marshmallows over campfires. It was a fad that started in summer resort towns in the Northeast. But did you know that a recipe for s’mores were first found in a 1927 book, Tramping and Trailing with the Girl Scouts. In that book the recipe was literally called, “Some Mores”. S’mores have really come a long way since then and our family loves any unique s’mores recipe we can find.
