schoolwork during a holiday?

There are studies that show how important continues learning is–especially during the early years. Continuous learning can be essential in helping us to acquire critical thinking skills. The great thing about tying in lessons with holidays though is that your kids don’t even have to know they’re learning! Holidays are the perfect time to have hands-on lessons or activities that definitely don’t feel like traditional “school”.

I always have a fun time creating printables so I hope your kids have a fun time using them! Since I have younger and older elementary kids I made some worksheets for both age groups. There are two math pages and two ELA worksheets, one each for younger and older kids. I also made an extra page just for fun. Pages like this are handy if you’re making holiday dinner and need to occupy the kiddos. I mean, that’s not just me, right??

These Christmas worksheets include a fun math activity with a sugar cookie recipe for older kids. Younger kids could definitely participate to with help and supervision. Keep in mind that baking is a great real-life math (and science) activity! I’m also excited about the fun word searches I made for both age groups. Your TK or kindergarten student might need a little help with their pages but other kids should be able to work independently! You might even discover that these are fun things for the family to work on together–why not have a coloring contest? Winner gets to choose the film for family movie night.
