I am SO excited to share this post today! It has been too long since I was able to decorate a space like this (our last major room makeover was our kitchen). Being a new house (to us) I basically had a blank slate to start with, which was a lot of fun but also a little tough. What should we do with the room? When I asked my son for input he said he wanted superhero posters. This vintage comic book room reveal is in collaboration with Beddy’s and some links contain affiliates. All opinions are completely my own.

a mixture of vintage and industrial style

As I mentioned in Part One of this room makeover I went with a vintage industrial vibe. Not only do I like that style but I figured it would be a space that my son could easily grow into. This room will also be doubling as a second guest room when family comes to visit. Because of that I wanted something not only kid-friendly, but welcoming for guests as well.

I tried to achieve the vintage industrial look with warm wood tones and dark metal. Once I had those elements decided on I scattered them around the room. The dark metal of his bed frame is mimicked in his great new ceiling fan. His wooden plank wall is brought over to the other side of his bedroom with his pallet bookshelf, vintage school desk, and hand-me-down dresser. Originally I had planned to paint his dresser a dark navy, but I think for now at least I’m going to keep it as is. I like have the wood in that corner of his bedroom.

Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against superheroes, I love superheroes. But I wanted to make sure that this room was something he would like for a long time. Luckily, I found some great vintage-looking comic book posters that my son loved. This website had several to choose from and I let him pick any two that he wanted. With those purchased I revolved the rest of the room around his posters.

Vintage comic books really have some fun pops of color. The posters were bought are huge–36″x54″. Those brought a lot of interest and color into the room. His vintage school desk was already a fun pop of color that worked well with the Captain America poster that my son chose. I also picked out a superhero-inspired “BAM!” pillow from Beddy’s to surprise him with and bring in more color.

fun and simple bedding

I’ve followed Beddy’s for awhile now and have been obsessed with the concept of zipping up your bed to make it. I mean, anything that makes my mom life easier I am all about! Beddy’s bedding is an all-in-one bedding set. It comes all together and fits on your mattress like a fitted sheet. Not only does it make it easier for you to change the bedding when you wash it, it makes it a snap for your child to make their own bed!

My son loves camping and was so excited when he saw that he would be able to easily zip himself into his bed and then zip it to make it in the morning. In fact, he mentioned multiple times that it was “just like a sleeping bag”. Except in my opinion it’s SO much better because of Beddy’s patented comfort panel that makes it so you can’t feel the zipper. So far we’ve had our fabulous Nautical Navy Beddy’s set for about a week and he has made his bed without being asked every morning.
