It’s the first week of October and I’ve got just the thing to celebrate! Although I’m Team Long Live Summer, there are some things I adore about fall. Fall scents is one of those things–sweet, spicy, homey smells. Combine that with a way to help me relax on a cozy fall evening? Perfection! Today I’m sharing a tutorial for how to make these fun pumpkin bath bombs that you and your kids will love!

Make fall-scented pumpkin bath bombs.

DIY pumpkin bath bombs

My kids absolutely love bath bombs. I mean, I think they’re pretty fun too! The great thing is–they’re actually pretty easy to make. Once you have all the materials you need to make them a little goes a long way and you can make them over and over again! So I thought it would be fun to make some pumpkin bath bombs and add a little fall-scented essential oil to them.

materials needed:
  • epsom salts
  • baking soda
  • citric acid
  • witch hazel
  • cosmetic grade dry colorant
  • essential oils (I used On Guard from doTERRA)
pumpkin bath bombs:
  • 1/4 cup of epsom salts
  • 1 cup of baking soda
  • 1/2 cup of citric acid
  • a few drops of witch hazel
  • a few drops of essential oils
  • colorant to preference

Bath bombs are really easy to make but there can be some trial and error to get the right consistency. First you mix all the dry ingredients together until the ingredients are well mixed. Add just a few spritzes of Witch Hazel. Your mixture should be similar to the consistency of kinetic sand. You will be tempted to make it wetter, but then your bath bomb will fizz as it’s drying. Once you have the right consistency you can add the coloring and essential oils, if you want.

Firmly pack your bath bombs mixture into your molds. Don’t overfill because they often expand as they dry! Once your molds are full allow them to dry for about 10-30 minutes. Depending on the temperature and humidity of the day, sometimes I turn my oven on as low as possible and let them dry in there.
