It’s been a long time but this last weekend I was finally able to throw another get together for local bloggers and content creators. I got the idea to plan a Midsummer Night’s Dream party a few months ago and I couldn’t get the idea out of my head. I was picturing a kind of boho/Shakespearean evening with lots of florals involved… is that a valid theme? Haha, regardless, I knew what I wanted and with the help of my friend Alia and some generous sponsors we pulled it off! Keep reading for all the details!

Hosting a Midsummer Night's Dream party.

Midsummer Night’s Dream Party

Almost as soon as I got the idea for this Midsummer Night’s Dream Party I decided to reach out to my friend Alia from Party Like a Cherry. If you need ideas and inspiration for how to pull off an incredible themed party–Alia is your girl. Usually when I’m hosting events at my house I’m doing all the planning and organizing by myself. However, I learned from co-hosting our Magical Media Retreat earlier this year that sometimes it’s good to have help. I’m so glad Alia was willing to host this event with me because I couldn’t have pulled it off without her!

how to plan a Midsummer Night’s Dream get-together

a Shakespearean food spread

Both Alia and I had a vision of a massive charcuterie spread and with Smart & Final we were able to pull it off. And by we, I mean Alia put it all together! Not only were we able to pick up all our meats, cheeses, fruit, and vegetables at our local Smart & Final, we were even able to find some gluten free cookie dough and crackers for those with dietary concerns. With their weekly deals and digital coupons you can really save big which is more important now than ever! We even grabbed some fresh florals to fill in spots on our table and use as some décor. I love that Smart & Final can be our one-stop shop for our party needs!

To go along with our charcuterie spread we wanted some delicious desserts. I reached out to my friend Megan of Megan’s Bakeshop who is located in Auburn and serves the greater Sacramento area. She created the most beautiful and delicious sugar cookies for us that we put on the table and in the swag bags. Megan also made delectable cookies and cream macarons and her signature cupcakes that were perfect for our Midsummer Night’s Dream party theme.

fun with Gather Studio and Events

I have done a workshop with Gather Studio and Events before so I knew they would be the perfect addition to our evening. After all, what would a Midsummer Night’s Dream themed party be without floral crowns? Gather hosts public workshops and shows you how to create crafty things from homemade soaps, to macramé, to–ahem–floral crowns. They also host private events in your own home and bring everything you need to have some creative fun with friends!

Meleya from Gather Studio and Events was such a pleasure to work with! The floral crowns were the perfect addition to our evening and it was a really nice activity to work on while we were chatting and talking about all things content creation. Wouldn’t it be fun to book a holiday workshop with family or friends? They book up fast so contact Gather Studio and Events now!

learning from our panelists

Alia and I really wanted to have some seasoned content creators there to chat about working with brands. I reached out to Jessica from Blog About It All and Jennifer from Savvy Grey Styles and they were more than happy to join us. Both of these ladies I’ve known for several years and I definitely recommend you check them out and give them a follow!

I wish we had had more time to talk and learn from them but we started our evening late and didn’t have as much opportunity for a Q&A as I had been hoping. However, even as a blogger of 12 years I really appreciated their insight–it’s always nice to hear other’s perspectives and experiences!

benefiting The Pajama Program

When I host an event like this at my house I always like to make it a party with a purpose. This time I chose The Pajama Program because I felt like it tied in perfectly with our Midsummer Night’s Dream Party. The Pajama Program is a national nonprofit that helps to promote and support a good bedtime routine for all children. I believe so strongly in the power of routine and a good night’s sleep and I think all children deserve to feel safe. We asked attendees to consider bringing a book or pajamas for donations and it was so great to see them all together!

meet our partners for the event

As I mentioned, our food sponsors were Smart & Final and Megan’s Bakeshop. Alia and I are both so grateful for their generosity and contribution to our event!

Gather Studio and Events was so great to partner with for the evening. I’m already dreaming about doing another workshop with them!

Art 2 The Extreme was one of our product sponsors for the swag bags. Nicole created the most gorgeous floral crayons that tied in perfectly to the event. You can use JUSTINE20 for a discount! Shop through Etsy here.

Cleo is a creator and the curator of Typewriter and Moss, a handmade goods boutique located here in Auburn. Each attendee went home with a unique pair of her handmade earrings!

When I saw the wooden bookmarks in my Instagram feed from Chapman Sign Co. I knew they would be the perfect addition to our event benefiting The Pajama Program and I was right!

Making Memories Box generously donated an entire box for each attendee that’s full of fun activities for little kiddos–it’s like Pinterest for your kids in a box!

Have you ever planned a Midsummer Night’s Dream themed event? I want to hear about it!
