Mason Jar Strawberry Shortcake Trifles

Valentine’s Day is  less than a week away and I am getting so excited; and it’s not only because Valentine’s Day seems to go hand-in-hand with sweet treats.

Although it certainly doesn’t hurt.

Today I’m sharing a fun dessert that’s perfect to make for a date night home with your sweetheart, a fun family dinner, or a get together with friends. I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again–everything in a mason jar is automatically ten times more awesome. Why is that? I especially have a weak spot for food in a mason jar and these little, individual-sized strawberry shortcake trifles are some of my favorite yet.

The great thing about these treats is that they look so involved but they are really so simple, especially if you’re using a store-bought pound cake. If strawberries aren’t your thing or they’re not in season then you could easily substitute a different type of berry, or even pie filling. Two layers each of pound cake, sliced berries, and pudding perfectly fill these little half pint mason jars. Just complete with whipped topping and some pound cake crumbles just prior to serving and you’re all set with a light and refreshing dessert that will wow any crowd.
