Valentine’s Day is less than a week away and I am getting so excited. And not only because Valentine’s Day seems to go hand-in-hand with sweet treats. Although it certainly doesn’t hurt. Today I’m sharing a fun dessert that’s perfect to make for a date night home with your sweetheart. But, it would also be fun to have with a family dinner or a get together with friends! I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again–everything in a mason jar is automatically ten times more awesome. I hope you love these mason jar strawberry shortcake trifles!

The great thing about these treats is that they look so involved but they are really so simple. Especially if you’re using a store-bought pound cake. If strawberries aren’t your thing or they’re not in season then you could easily substitute a different type of berry, or even pie filling. Two layers each of pound cake, sliced berries, and pudding perfectly fill these little half pint mason jars. Just complete with whipped topping and some pound cake crumbles just prior to serving and you’re all set with a light and refreshing dessert that will wow any crowd.

  • 1 box of vanilla pudding
  • whipped topping
  • 6 half pint mason jars
Instructions
  1. Slice the pound cake and using a large, round cookie cutter or rim of a glass, cut out rounds that will fit into the mason jars.
  2. Prepare pudding according to directions.
  3. Layer in cake, pudding, and strawberries as desired.
  4. Wait to add whipped topping until just prior to serving.

You could even make them the night before and put lids on them in the fridge. Or keep lids on them in a cooler and take these mason jar strawberry shortcake trifles to a picnic! How fun would these be to take to a fourth of July barbecue? And your kids can easily help you assemble them! It’s not hard to make several ahead of time if you’ve got a second set of hands.

  1. OOoohhhh!!!! These are so pretty and we are HUGE strawberry shortcake fans. I am going to have to try these out with my girls. The mason jar just makes it that much cuter too. Love it.

  2. YUM YUM YUM! Oh, now I want some of this right this very second! Anything in a mason jar is gold in my eyes (but even better when it’s strawberry shortcake). I think I may have a new craving brewing.
