One of my favorite toppings for ice cream is peanut butter. Okay, confession–I have a lot of favorite toppings. However, peanut butter is my go-to because we always have it on hand. If you’re a fan of peanut butter and ice cream as well, you’ll love this simple recipe! It’s so easy to make at home!

There was still some chocolate peanut butter spread in the pantry leftover from another recipe. I started thinking about how good it would be with ice cream. That was all the motivation I needed to pull out our ice cream maker! I decided to just go crazy with the peanut butter in this recipe! So this triple peanut butter ice cream combines three forms of the good stuff!

how to make homemade ice cream

I just love homemade ice cream. It is so delicious and creamy, and there’s something really nice about it only having four ingredients. And being able to pronounce each one.

Just in case you were wondering, no, it’s not weird to devour ice cream in the middle of winter. It maybe is kind of silly that I generally have to follow it up with a hot mug of cocoa–usually with my husband looking at me with raised eyebrows and an incredulous expression on his face. However, I think the delicious aspect of it outweighs the cold aspect of it.

Triple Peanut Butter Ice Cream

This ice cream recipe is a peanut butter lover's dream!

Ingredients
  • 1 cup milk (well chilled, anything from skim to whole works)
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups heavy cream (well chilled)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup mini Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
  • ½ cup creamy peanut butter
  • ½ cup peanut butter chocolate spread
Instructions
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk the milk and granulated sugar together until sugar is dissolved. Stir in the heavy cream and vanilla extract. Turn on your ice cream maker and pour the mixture in.

  2. Once the ice cream is pretty well set up (near the end of the cycle) add the Reese’s candies, peanut butter, and Reese’s Spreads. If you melt the peanut butter and Reese’s Spreads in the microwave slightly they will be easier to pour into the ice cream and incorporate.

  3. Once the ice cream maker is finished, allow the ice cream to continue hardening in the freezer for a couple hours; or eat soft serve as is.

Homemade ice cream is so easy to make with an inexpensive ice cream maker. We’ve had ours for several years and it works great! You can buy one on Amazon here (affiliate link).

Weirdly my husband is not a dessert person (ughhhh I hate that!) but he LOVES ice cream. He will eat an entire tub in a single sitting… Yuck, hand me the chocolate cake over that anyway!
But anywho his favorite is peanut butter! I will have to take a peek at this!

No guarantees though Nick, because I'm a cake person, I'm making cake anyway over the ice cream…. Maybe we can put the ice cream on top of the cake hmmm
    YES! :)))

  2. This looks delicious! I was just talking with someone and telling them I'd never had peanut butter ice cream…this would be the perfect way to try it!
