Disney+ movie marathons for family movie night

What movies to watch on Disney+

Table of Contents

Our family has been loving our weekly family movie nights. Nearly every week on Friday nights you can find us sitting in our family room eating pizza, munching on licorice, and watching a film together. We’ve been doing this for over a year now and it’s something we all look forward to every week. However, with so many movie nights under our belt we started struggling to figure out what we would all want to watch. That’s when we decided to rewatch all the movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe–but this time in timeline order. It’s been so nice not having to think about what we’re watching next but it got me thinking–what other Disney+ movie marathons could we watch?

Disney+ movie marathons

kid-friendly marathons to watch

Frozen, 4 hours, 17 minutes+

The first and second Frozen movies are on Disney+. You can also find cute shorts like Once Upon a Snowman and Frozen Fever. Plus if you’re into behind-the-scenes type stuff you should check out the Into The Unknown: Making Frozen II documentary.

Cars, 5 hours 25 minutes

All three Cars movies are on Disney+, including the spin-off Planes and several shorts. This is a fun one to do with little kids on a lazy weekend. Keep in mind that if you start including all the other films other than just the trilogy the run time will be longer!

The Lion King, 6 hours, 31 minutes

Disney+ has The Lion King, The Lion King 1 1/2 (known as The Liong King 3 in some regions), and The Lion King 2. They even have the live action remake that came out in 2019. If your kids haven’t checked out the spin-off The Lion Guard animated series you can find that on Disney+ as well. Which one is your family’s favorite?

Toy Story, 6 hours 16 minutes+

The entire Toy Story saga is on Disney+ as well as other shorts from the franchise as well. If you haven’t seen Toy Story of Terror yet it’s a cute addition to the movies. Find other featurettes of your favorite Toy Story characters with the Pixar shorts.

High School Musical, 6 hours 57 minutes+

Why not introduce your kids to musicals with a little High School Musical binge-watch weekend? Not only will you find the three films plus the spin-off, Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure, but there’s also an original series to stream.

movie marathons for the older crowd

Pirates of the Caribbean, 9 hours 59 minutes

We introduced our children to the Pirates franchise shortly before we started our current Marvel marathon and they really liked it! Keep in mind for younger viewers it can be a little frightening at times. And if you want the full Pirates of the Caribbean experience you’ll have to wait until December for the fifth film, Dead Men Tell No Tales, to be released on the streaming service or find it elsewhere.

X-Men, 11 hours 47 minutes

Thanks to Disney+ adding 20th Century Studios movies to their lineup you can now find X-Men on the streaming service. Some of the movies are on Disney+, as well as animated series. Keep in mind that you won’t find everything there so if you want to have a complete movie marathon you’ll have to find some films elsewhere.

Star Wars, 22 hours 27 minutes

You can find all the Star Wars films except for the final film of the Skywalker Saga on Disney+. No worries though, The Rise of Skywalker will be added this year on May 4th… Star Wars Day. Well played Disney. In the meantime you can decide how you’ll binge the legendary series–by release date or chronologically?

Marvel Cinematic Universe, 43 hours 40 minutes

In the world of Disney+ movie marathons the Marvel movies reign supreme. The streaming service has even been nice enough to have them listed on their site in timeline order for you. Keep in mind that you will not find the Spider-Man movies or the 2008 The Incredible Hulk on Disney+. So if for the full experience you’ll need to find those movies elsewhere.
