I can’t believe that it’s September and the first day of fall is only a few weeks away. Where has this crazy year gone? It has definitely been a year we won’t forget. What better way to document the passing of this time than with some fun journal entries? I love seeing things through my children’s perspective and these fall writing prompts are the perfect way to do just that.

A little while ago on my Instagram Stories I was talking about how it’s more important now than ever to make sure your kids are practicing their writing skills. Many children in the United States are learning virtually. There are some positive silver linings that come with that, but there are also obvious drawbacks. One of the things I worry about is my children’s writing and handwriting skills. I make sure to have them write things down with paper and pencil whenever possible. One fun way to do that is with these monthly writing prompts.

There is a prompt for each month of fall (September, October, and November) for both younger and older children. There is plenty of room to write, and also some space for illustration–because it’s important to be creative too! You can also combine these with my writing prompts for spring and summer and create a year long journal for your child. I love looking back and seeing how far my kids have come with their writing skills.

Do your kids write in journals? It’s a great way to track their writing progress!
