The best baby monitor

When Mike and I had our first baby over nine years ago we registered for a baby monitor. I mean, you have to have one, right? I remember I was so excited to try it out… and then I quickly realized it wasn’t much use for us. Maybe it was just because our son was an exceptional sleeper but there didn’t seem to be much use for it in a small apartment. Besides, it really wasn’t the best one on the market and it was hard to see anything. Well, we recently got a new baby monitor and boy have things changed! Keep reading to find out how the best baby monitor has made my mom life easier.

why might you need a monitor?

Moving from 1690 square feet into a home more than twice that size has been interesting. For instance, I realized a baby monitor actually would come in handy! Especially since we’ve recently moved our 20 month old into a “big girl bed”. Although the transition has gone fairly well, there are definitely times I wish I could see what was going on.

And the best baby monitors these days can be handy if you have older kids too. Since they have a microphone so you can speak to them. They also offer the ability to view what’s going on right from your smartphone.

and the best baby monitor is…

The VTech RM5762 Wi-Fi Remote Access Video Baby Monitor with 5″display and 1080p HD 360-degree Pan and Tilt Camera is a great product. Found at your local buybuy BABY, you can also purchase the monitor with two pan and tilt cameras, or an option without the pan and tilt function. The unit also comes with an optional wall mount. However, I chose to sit it on my daughter’s bookshelf until we decide exactly where we want it.

From the VTech RM5762’s vantage point it can scan the entire room with its 360 degree pan and 182 degree tilt. Okay, that’s a lot of numbers and facts, but what really makes it great?

  • The small and compact design works with any decor.
  • Keep tabs on what baby girl is doing from my video baby monitor or my smartphone.
  • The ability to speak to my baby or play a selection of white noise and lullabies through the camera.
  • Being able to check the temperature in the room so I can adjust the thermostat accordingly.
  • Automatic infrared night vision means I can easily see what’s going on day or night.
