Moving into a house that’s more than twice the square footage as our last house has definitely had several expected advantages. Surprisingly though, it also has some unexpected problems that we’ve been slowly finding solutions for. One of those problems was the kids’ bathroom. We went from having one bathroom in the hall that doubled as a powder room and kids bath to having a dedicated bathroom for all the kids to share that’s about twice the size. In theory this sounds great, but I’ve struggled with the bathroom organization. I finally tackled some of the problems and although this bathroom is a long ways from being “done” I wanted to share these bathroom organization solutions with you. These simple solutions are all about keeping the space clean while helping my kids be more independent, because I’m all about anything that makes my mom life easier!

Bathroom Organization Solutions

problems with the kids bathroom

Despite the size and storage in our bathroom, it’s clear it wasn’t designed for five kids to share. There were two towel racks, plus the one on the shower door. Towels were always everywhere, but the racks. Another problem is that the portion of the bathroom behind the inner door is just so small. There was barely enough room for me to move around in there to help my little ones wash their hair. Our old bathroom rug was even too bulky for the door to close over. And even though there was plenty of storage under the sinks, I didn’t know what to do with it. How could I make it easier for my kids to clean up after themselves?

Messy bathroom

I headed to Target to solve some of my bathroom organization dilemmas. My first stop was the soap aisle where I picked up a variety of Dial® brand products. I was able to find Dial® Kids formula Hair + Body Wash in Watery Melon and Peachy Clean. While I was at it I grabbed some Dial® Himalayan Salt Body Wash for myself. After all, Cartwheel is having a 10% off deal on Dial® brand products while supplies last! Then, I made sure to grab a new rug that would have a smaller profile. Once I had those things taken care of, I continued looking for more solutions to my bathroom organization problems.

3 simple bathroom organization solutions

1) simplify the soap situation

As I mentioned I grabbed some Dial® Kids formula Hair + Body Wash for my kiddos. I knew that these two-in-one formulas would be perfect for my kids to be able to easily wash themselves. Plus, I love that the Dial® brand has worked with pediatric dermatologists to make a sensitive formula that’s hypoallergenic, pH balanced, and dye free. I can keep a bottle of Dial® Kids formula Hair + Body Wash within easy reach to make bath time a breeze.

2) contain it all with containers

I made sure to grab some small plastic containers for the drawers as well. Now, they have one drawer that’s full of toothbrushes, toothpaste, and floss and the other drawer has all their hair brushes and bows. I used to drag the kids into my bathroom to brush their hair out at night. But now after they’ve washed their hair with their Dial® Kids Body + Hair Wash I can brush their hair out right there. Makes a lot more sense and makes my life easier!

3) help the hodgepodge with hooks

I knew that to solve my bathroom organization dilemma I had to do something about those towels. I picked up some hooks to replace the too-small towel rack. Now, where one towel rack used to be that barely fit two towels, I have six towel hooks! It’s so easy for my kids to hang their towels up and they stay off the ground.
