One of the most iconic parts in Lady and the Tramp is the scene at Tony’s Restaurant when Lady and Tramp are having spaghetti and meatballs. I bet that even if you haven’t seen the movie, you are familiar with this scene. I made these cupcakes for the first time a few weeks ago for an Italian-themed potluck that my family attended. It was one of those rare times when what I was hoping for in my head turned out just how I wished! These are actually really easy to make and trust me when I say that no special decorating skills or supplies are needed. In fact, I personally think that the messier, the better. It had been years since I’d seen Lady and the Tramp, in fact, I’m pretty sure the last time I saw it was on VHS tape. My kids had never seen it but I thought that they would probably enjoy it. So, when I found the Blu-Ray set at my local Target I snatched it up.

We had a movie night that very evening. It has been playing on repeat in our house (and car!) ever since. It’s so fun seeing my kids love the same Disney movies that I grew up watching. I was shocked when my husband told me that he didn’t think he’d ever seen Lady and the Tramp all the way through before. So, in case you also haven’t seen it I’ll give you a brief synopsis.

Lady and the Tramp follows a year in the life of Lady. Lady is a cocker spaniel who joins Jim Dear and Darling in their quaint Victorian home. You also meet Tramp and watch their interactions as they visit each other’s worlds. Watching this movie as an adult is interesting. Not only do you realize how hard change can be for a dog, but you think about how hard the same type of change can be for a child. I enjoyed the movie growing up but I think I liked watching it with my own children even more. I highly recommend Lady and the Tramp for your next family movie night! And I just so happen to have the perfect treat to go along with it. You can find it streaming on Disney+, including the exclusive life action remake they filmed.

Would your kids be fooled by these cupcakes?

  1. This is such a cute idea! Very creative. And that is a huge shocker that he hadn’t ever seen the full movie 0_0 I used to make my cousins watch that movie over and over when I was little haha

  2. These cupcakes are awesome! It has been so long since I have seen the movie too- maybe I can talk my husband into watching it and then eating cupcakes. Well, the cupcakes won’t take much convincing 😉

  3. These cupcakes are so cute! I’m going to have to save this idea for April Fools next year! I love Lady and the Tramp but I think the last time I saw it was on VHS as well and my littles have never seen it. We are definitely going to have to add it to our movie collection at some point.

  4. You are so creative Justine! This would be a fun dessert to make for April Fools and see if my kids would eat it, haha. I actually really love Lady and the Tramp but it’s been years since I’ve seen it, but I think my kids would love it, especially since they love animals.

  5. This is epic! When I made my spaghetti cupcakes I used Whoppers! The chocolates you used look awesome! My favorite disney movie… so many to pick, but i LOVE cinderella!!

  6. My favorite Disney movie would probably be Cinderella (classic) followed by Beauty and the Beast.
