I know, I know, Easter hasn’t even happened yet! You haven’t had time to fall into a chocolate cream egg coma or pilfer all the peanut butter goodies from your little one’s Easter basket. But that doesn’t change the fact that Mother’s Day is only about a month away and the time to start thinking about gifts is now. Check out this easy gift idea for a handmade Mother’s Day apron. I mean, we all know what every momma wants for Mother’s Day is to sleep in and have a long nap. And maybe a massage. And some carb-free chocolate cake. But THAT’S not going to happen, so let’s not dwell on it. Moving on…

Today I’m sharing a unique idea that would be great for your little ones to give to their grandma. Or to you, if you want to pass this along to your hubby, wink wink.

Materials needed:

Place your iron-on letters where you want them on your apron. Or you can use your electronic cutting machine if you have one to cut out heat transfer material. The great hting about this gift is you can customize it to say anything you’d like. Grandma, mommy, nana–even a person’s name. My kiddos call both of their grandmothers “grammy” so that’s what we went with for our Mother’s Day aprons.

Then you let your kiddos get creative with their fabric markers, or even trace their little hand prints and write the date near them. I recommend only giving them two or three coordinating colors so that the design doesn’t get too out of hand, but that might just be my crafting OCD taking over.

Have you even started thinking about Mother’s Day yet? Am I the only one who is in shock that it’s already here?
