Meringues

Meringue cookies using Wilton meringue powder

Ingredients

  • 1 TBSP Wilton meringue powder
  • 1/4 cup of cold water
  • 6 TBSP plus 2 tsp of granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp extract flavoring of choice

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 225°.
  2. In a stand mixer, combine meringue powder, water, and half of sugar. Whip at high speed for 5 minutes.
  3. Scrape sides of the bowl. Add flavoring (and food coloring, if desired). Gradually add rest of sugar and continue whipping at high speed for 5 minutes until meringue forms stiff peaks.
  4. Spoon into pastry bag with a 1M tip and pipe onto parchment paper-lined baking tray.
  5. Bake 45-60 minutes.

Recipe Notes

Baking time will vary depending on several factors; i.e. what type of cookie sheet you use, humidity in the air, etc. It's best to keep checking every 5 minutes once you reach 45 minutes.
