If you know me then you probably also know that I’m always thinking about the next trip. It’s not unusual for our “bigger” trips (Spring Break, summer road trips) to be planned a year in advance. However, I know that’s not necessarily how other people plan their family vacations. So if your Spring Break travel are still up in the air, I’ve got you covered today. I’m sharing three budget-friendly Spring Break travel destinations your family will love.

budget-friendly Spring Break vacation ideas in the western U.S.

There are plenty of fantastic budget-friendly Spring Break vacation ideas all across the United States, and I’d love to hear about your favorites in the comments!

However, since we’re located on the West Coast, our family has a lot more experience with budget-friendly locations that are within driving distance to us. So for today’s blog post these three travel destinations are located in the western U.S.

something for everyone in Las Vegas, Nevada

Some people are surprised to find out what a family-friendly destination Las Vegas is. Not only are there plenty of kid-friendly attractions to choose from, but there are several free activities to fill your time as well! Even just walking around the hotels and casinos can be a fun and exciting time for kids of all ages.

Las Vegas is also a great basecamp for lots of outdoor adventures. It’s located less than an hour from Valley of Fire State Park and two hours from Death Valley National Park. Both of these places are ideal springtime destinations before temperatures start to climb. These are great places to explore with hyper little ones that want to run around!

a budget-friendly Spring Break theme park getaway

Disney parks are a popular Spring Break destination–and for good reason! However, although there are ways to save (Get Away Today has some great ticket deals), it’s definitely not the most budget-friendly option. Only a 15 minute drive north, Knott’s Berry Farm is another fun theme park option for families. Bonus–it’s actually affordable to stay on-site at this theme park!

Spring is one of my favorite times to visit Knott’s Berry Farm because that’s when their Boysenberry Festival takes place! This is a fun time of year where the berry that started it all–the boysenberry–is the star. It’s featured in delicious food, seasonal decor, and fun merchandise. Our family can’t wait to go this year!

orchards in bloom at Capitol Reef National Park

Our family has visited all of the “Utah Mighty Five” national parks and it’s hard to pick a favorite. However, one that stands out is Capitol Reef National Park. Although this park is the most remote, it’s definitely worth a visit. And any park that combines historic petroglyphs with desserts made form locally sourced fruit is sure to be a family favorite.

You can pick your own fruit at Capitol Reef National Park.

Although you won’t be able to pick any fruits or nuts in the spring, the majority of the trees will be showing off their blossoms. Spring is a popular time of year to visit before the heat becomes overwhelming, but don’t let that hold you back from this beautiful and unique national park!
