‘Tis (almost) the season for all things spooky. Of course, there’s a wide-range of spooky when it comes to fun Halloween decorations. I do love getting a good fright at this time of year, but I don’t want the neighborhood kids to be scared to ring our doorbell on Halloween. There’s a fine line between spooky fun and over-the-top scary. If you’re looking for some fun Halloween decorations for your front yard or wanting to impress everyone at the trunk-or-treat, check out these ideas!
four themes: fun Halloween decorations kids will love
For each of these fun (and only slightly spooky) themes I’ve included a link to Amazon with plenty of items to help you make it happen. New holiday decor not in your budget this year? Just use this post as inspiration, take to Pinterest, and DIY some amazingly fun Halloween decorations!
Haunted Mansion Halloween decorations
If your family loves the Haunted Mansion–or are even just big Disney fans–these fun Halloween decorations are perfect! From inflatables to photo backdrops, the whole neighborhood will love the touch of Disney you’ve brought to Halloween. Bonus idea–find some ride audio or video on YouTube and use speakers or a projector to make it feel like you’re really there!

Harry Potter Halloween decorations
We’ve used a Harry Potter theme to decorate our car for trunk-or-treat before and it was a big hit! I think decorating our front porch and yard in a similar style would be so much fun. This would also be an easy theme to pull together without spending a lot of money–faux brick of some kind can really go a long way. Of course, if you’ve got a brick facade on your house you’re already halfway there!

Nightmare Before Christmas Halloween decorations
Truth be told–The Nightmare Before Christmas is not my favorite Halloween movie. Or even in my top 10. But it is a fun movie that a lot of kids love and don’t find scary. That makes it a great choice when you’re decorating for Halloween! I found some fun goodies to pass out to trick-or-treaters that fit the theme as well that kids will love!

classic graveyard Halloween decorations
These Halloween decorations are definitely the most spooky on the list. However, the great thing about this classic theme is that you can keep it as tame as you want! If you’re trying to keep a graveyard full of skeletons and tombstones more fun and less scary, pose the skeletons in funny positions and opt for a more cartoonish version of characters if you can.

Which of these fun Halloween decorations would your kids love the most?
