what’s in my diaper bag

What I pack in my diaper bag. Everything I keep in my diaper bag for baby, toddlers, and myself!

As a mom with a lot of littles we’re on the go quite a bit. And with a wide range of ages I always need to be ready when we’re out and about! But I learned years ago that less is more. So here’s everything I keep in my diaper bag! Links contain affiliates, all opinions are my own.

what I pack in my diaper bag for baby:

I think that really, babies don’t need a whole lot. We have a tendency to pack more for them than they often need. However, you do want to be prepared when you on an outing. So here are the things I like to keep in my diaper bag for my littlest sweethearts!

  • Aden and Anais muslin swaddle blanket: Sometimes I just keep one of these with the car seat so I don’t have to keep one in the diaper bag, just kind of depends on my mood or what time of year it is.
  • Huggies diapers and wipes: I keep two in my diaper bag at all times in whatever sizes I currently need, then I keep extra in the car all the time so I don’t have to carry around 10 diapers with me “just in case”, but I never run out!
  • Clean onesie: kept in a Ziploc bag in case of emergencies
  • Nursing cover

what I keep in there for toddlers:

Diaper bags are not just for babies! Here are some of the things I keep in my diaper bag for my older kids.

  • Snacks: I know this looks like a lot, but keep in mind I need to have emergency snacks on hand for three little moochers!
  • “Busy bag”: With items like small coloring books (from Target Dollar Spot) and a couple crayons, a couple lace-and-trace cards, and a small board book.
  • Toddler water bottle (not pictured): I pretty much always have at least one kid water bottle in my diaper bag at all times. I try to make my two older kids in charge of their own, but I still schlep around the water for my 18 month old.

what I keep in my diaper bag for myself:

I know that already seems like a lot for a bag that’s not a Mary Poppins bag. But believe it or not, there’s still room for the things that I need for myself.

  • Planner: My planner is also my wallet… and sometimes an impromptu coloring pad for the kids.
  • Cell phone
  • Cosmetic bag: This tiny bag holds things like a travel size sunscreen, tinted lip moisturizer, gum, eye drops, and my inhaler.
  • Water bottle (not pictured): Most of the time I have a water bottle for myself, especially when I’m pregnant.
  • Hand sanitizer (not pictured, clipped onto the side)

  1. oh you are so organized. I like your idea of having a onesie in a plastic bag, i never thought of where you put the one that had the accident. Smart, smart!

  2. You're diaper bag contents are pretty much the same exact as mine I find it easier to keep it stocked and ready to go so that it's one less thing to do before I head out.

The muslin blankets are my favorite. I love that they store in little space and can be used for a light cover for shade, nursing cover or to lay on grass.

Your bag is super cute. It reminds me a lot of my Sarah Wells breast pump bag.

  3. That bag is fantastic! I don't need to carry around diapers for kids anymore, but I feel like I still need a large enough bag for kid cr*p 🙂 This one is much more stylish than anything I've ever carried. Love it!

  4. Love this! That's such a cute bag! I'm finally getting to a point where I may not need to carry a diaper bag much longer and I'm rejoicing! Although that one is really cute!

  5. You carry light! I always had junk in my bag when my kids were younger. I do have two toddlers…they pack their own bag. Haha. I think the only thing I carry on me that is not mine is my son's epi-pen. btw…I LOVE that bag, I would totally recycle it and use it as a camera bag. Love love LOVE it!

  6. These are great tips!! I don't have a diaper bag yet, but someday I will and I am going to be completely clueless as to what to put in it!

  7. I love that bag so much, it's so stylish!
I need that many snacks for my one baby, he's such a monster eater I can't imagine if I have more like him – the grocery bills!! ://///
You reminded me I NEED to put an extra stash of things in the car, brilliant! I've been meaning to but keep forgetting and things have almost gotten very ugly and messy heheh
