This past weekend was my little sister’s bridal shower. I am really pleased with how it turned out and I think the bride-to-be had a good time. I’m so glad that I was able to make the drive down to southern California and help to pull off this cookies and milk bridal shower for her! And I’m also happy to share it wit y’all here on the blog!

We kind of went with a loose cookies and milk theme, at least for the food. Elsewhere for decor we just stuck to a pink and aqua color scheme. It all came together with a slight country chic theme that seems to be so popular right now.

fun games for a bridal shower

We played a couple of games during the shower, which I always have mixed feelings about. On one hand, it’s nice to have party games when not everyone knows each other to help break the ice. On the other hand–sometimes it’s just awkward for people. I did think that the other ladies throwing the shower did a great job organizing some fun activities though!

“Don’t Say” Game

For one game we played the classic “Don’t Say –” game that you see a lot at baby showers. This is where everyone is wearing a necklace (or sometimes they have a clothespin attached to their clothing) and there are certain words you can’t say. For our party the words were: wedding, excited, and the groom’s name. If you do say any of these words and someone catches you they get to collect your necklace. At the end of the shower, the person with the most necklaces wins!

“He Said, She Said” Game

Another fun and simple game was a “He Said, She Said” game. We had asked my sister and her husband-to-be some questions ahead of time. Then we put some of their responses on a sheet of paper. Guests at the bridal shower had to guess who had made which statement. For example, we had asked them both, “What would your dream job be?” and then wrote on the paper “This person wants to work for the National Park Service.” It was a fun way for guests to get to know the groom a little better!

Date Night Idea Jar

Although not a “game”, per se, we also had guests write date night ideas on slips of paper and put them in a jar. This way if they were ever in a date night funk (hey, it happens!) they could just pull and idea out of a jar to get inspired.

As I mentioned, we focus on cookies and milk, although we did have some savory options also. After guests had salad, croissant sandwiches, pasta salad, and fruit, they could enjoy all the cookies they wanted! We bought some cookies from the store, but I also made some with lots of love and brought them all the way from northern California with me! I’m especially proud of the mason jar sugar cookies (they mimicked her mason jar invitations) and the heart-shaped fruit hand pies.

other touches

Decor was simple with daises (my sister’s favorite flowers) and pink and aqua fabric. I also brought a fabric scrap banner that we clipped photos of the couple to. For the winners of the party games we also kept things simple and kept with the vintage mason jar vibes. Winners were able to take home a jar of bath salts and essential oils.

I need to add a little disclaimer here at the end–I am not responsible for all this awesomeness, lest you think I am that amazing. I will take some of the credit for the decor and execution. Also, I take full credit for the mason jar sugar cookies and the heart-shaped pie cookies, cause I’m pretty dang proud of them!
