I figured that since I’m now in my third trimester (almost 30 weeks!!) that I owed you a pregnancy update. It’s been interesting to me this time around because I feel like a lot of things have been different. With all the questions I’ve been getting from people this seemed like the easiest way to answer them all at once. This post is part of a collaboration with PinkBlush. As always, all opinions are completely my own and I never share brands or products that I don’t love!

pregnancy update Q & A

Was this planned?

I know that it might be hard to believe but this actually was planned. That doesn’t mean that it didn’t still come as a small shock when the pregnancy stick actually said “pregnant” on it. However, this sweet little baby was definitely planned.

How have you been feeling?

Oh. My. Word. SO tired. Honestly, I can’t remember ever feeling exhaustion like I have for this pregnancy. Years of waking up early for religious studies, sports, community plays, babies, etc. Nothing has prepared me for the level of tired I reached with this pregnancy. I kept waiting for me to stop feeling so tired but the first trimester ended and nothing, I still felt tired ALL the time. It finally started getting a little better around 20 weeks. Now I feel just like a regular tired mom instead of the extreme level of tired I was reaching. Comfort has been key for me and that’s why I appreciate PinkBlush maternity clothing so much. Their clothing is not only beautiful and helps this tired momma feel put together, but it’s comfortable enough to nap in. Not that I would know. Of course not.

Have you been really sick?

Nope, I have been really blessed with relatively easy pregnancies and I don’t typically get sick. I know, I know, don’t hate me.

Were you trying for a boy?

I kid you not that we’ve heard this one, le sigh. About a month ago we were unloading the kids from the car for Saturday morning soccer. Another dad (one that we’d never met) started chatting with Mike. After a few minutes he said, “Why did you try for another one? You’ve already got your boy”. To which Mike replied, “Yeah, and we actually had him first”. Dude, some people just like a lot of kids, okay? It doesn’t mean that we were trying for a boy or a girl or a wombat. Call us crazy, but we’ve actually never wished for one gender over another, we just hope for a healthy baby every time!

You waited so long to announce!  Why?

It’s true–this pregnancy update is coming when I’m pretty far along. We typically wait awhile to announce. We went through a miscarriage before having our son and we tend to be more cautious about announcing our happy news than other people do. I found out on June 9 but waited to tell Mike until our anniversary on June 22. I didn’t necessarily plan to tell him that day per se, I just kept waiting for the time to feel right and that’s when it did! We didn’t tell family until the end of August right before our big road trip though and then I wanted to wait for a general announcement until we had our family pictures taken.

How has this pregnancy been different from your others?

I noticed symptoms so much sooner this time. In fact, I was convinced that I was having twins until we had our first ultrasound. I even thought the first one might have been wrong until we went in for our 20 week anatomy scan (No joke, I looked it up, it happens! Sometimes in the initial ultrasound one twin will hide behind the other!). My belly started popping out earlier, my back started hurting earlier, I was even having Braxton Hicks in the first trimester–I didn’t even know that was possible y’all! I have also been retaining a LOT of water, which may help explain some of the excess weight I’ve gained this time around. Thank goodness for the best maternity jeans I’ve ever worn from PinkBlush and all of their great pieces that fit me now and will also transition perfectly once baby gets here!

pregnancy update: final thoughts

All in all, this pregnancy has been fairly “easy”. Well, as easy as a pregnancy can be when you have four little ones under the age of eight to run after. It truly has been flying by! I’m keeping busy trying to #organizeallthethings and prepare for baby girl to make her arrival. I’m hoping to keep things going normally on the blog but I seriously have some of the best readers around so I know that you all will understand if I have to step back a bit.
