Our review of Studio Movie Grill #ReviveDateNight

Happy date night lovely friends! What do you have planned for this weekend with your sweetheart? Anything fun? Whatever you do be sure to use the tag #ReviveDateNight on social media so we can see what you’re up to! This post was sponsored by Studio Movie Grill and I was compensated for my honest review. As always, all opinions are my own and I only share products or companies I love!

When I started thinking about this date night series, one of the first things I did was contact a fun location near me called Studio Movie Grill to see if they wanted to work together. You see, one of the biggest date night hurdles for Mike and myself seems to be the babysitting issue. With four young children we usually feel like we need two babysitters to watch them because they can be quite the handful, especially when they’re super excited to have new people over to entertain. We’re blessed enough right now to live near my parents who are currently our go-to babysitters, but that wasn’t always the case, plus you never want to take advantage of the hospitality of family, right?

This is where Studio Movie Grill comes in. If you’re not familiar with this establishment they’re a chain of movie theaters that offer an in-theater dining experience–and I’m not just talking about buttered popcorn. The idea of being able to enjoy dinner and a movie with my sweetheart and not have to book a babysitter for a five hour block of time was definitely appealing, especially to my wallet. But I was curious if Studio Movie Grill would actually live up to the hype. Was the food really going to be good? Would the servers delivering the orders be distracting during the movie? How did this all work? I was anxious to find out and have a fun date night with my hubby that didn’t feel rushed for once.

One of the best things about Studio Movie Grill is that you order your tickets and pick your seats out ahead of time. I love this because it means that you can get the seat that you want without having to show up to the theater an hour early and wait in line when the latest blockbuster comes out.

When you purchase your tickets you’ll be sent an email with your confirmation that you can either print out or just show on your phone when you arrive at the theater.  You’ll scan your confirmation on their kiosks and your tickets will print up, easy peasy! You also have the option of purchasing your tickets at the box office if you prefer or weren’t able to plan ahead. Studio Movie Grill has a great front lounge area that’s the perfect spot to hang out or meet friends while you’re waiting for your movie if you show up a little early.

Just like any other theater you’ll be able to enjoy some fun ads and previews before the show starts (the picture below was taken during an ad, not the movie!), but here you’ll get to do it while sipping on bottomless sodas or munching on some appetizer nachos. Studio Movie Grill recommends that you arrive 15-20 minutes early so you can take your seats and start ordering some delicious food. You can order as much as you want via the button located at each seat and they’ll continue to bring it throughout the movie.

This was the part that concerned me the most–wouldn’t it be super distracting if servers were walking in front of you the whole time? Mike and I both agree that you barely even notice it and we really didn’t feel like it took anything away from our movie experience. And being able to enjoy a great meal while you’re watching the newest blockbuster on a big screen more than makes up for it. We’ve been able to sample quite a few items from their menu and everything we’ve tried–from the stacked nachos, to the coconut chicken & shrimp, to the blackened chicken pasta have been delicious. Their desserts sound incredible too with offerings such as frozen hot chocolate, Nutella beignets, and New York style cheesecake with fresh strawberries.

So if you’re like us and one of your date night hurdles is not wanting to pay an arm and a leg for a babysitter then give Studio Movie Grill a try.  You can enjoy a delicious dinner in a state of the art theater while watching the latest blockbuster in two hours instead of five. Both Mike and I can’t wait to go back for another date night soon! What’s your excuse for not having date night now?!
