Something that I have been thinking a lot about lately is ways to spread more kindness and do more good. This is also something that I want to instill in my children and I don’t think it’s ever too young to start! Here are some fun random acts of kindness that are perfect to participate in with your children this school year. There are ten of them so you could pick one to do with your child each month that they’re in school.
- Purchase food for your local food bank.
- Deliver cases of drinks to your fire station.
- Take goodies to teachers and other personnel at school.
- Color pictures for a nursing home.
- Donate gently used toys to a daycare.
- “Ding dong ditch” treats to friends and neighbors.
- Drop off books at your library.
- Pick up trash at a park.
- Carry extra drinks or snacks in your car to pass out to homeless people.
- Assemble “first day of school” gifts for friends.
To prepare for the first of our random acts of kindness I went to Walmart and stocked up on some products that are part of their “Start School Like A Champion“ program. For this program the Team USA sponsors Coca-Cola®, Kellogg’s®, HERSHEY’S, and ©/® J.M. Smucker have teamed up with Scholastic to provide a free Scholastic book for every purchase of select products at Walmart! You can earn a free Scholastic book by purchasing any of the over 100 participating Coca-Cola, HERSHEY’S, Kellogg’s, or J.M. Smucker’s product at Walmart between 6/29/16 – 9/30/16 (1 item = 1 book).
Not only were these the perfect products to pair with my random acts of kindness, but as a homeschooling mom I love the idea of free books! I was able to easily upload my receipt to redeem a few Scholastic books for us to add to our bookshelves this year! I even have leftover points that I can use to give books away! To redeem your free books follow these simple steps:

2. Join or log in to Kellogg’s Family Rewards.
