Last week we were able to go and get some quick fall family photos taken by a very talented friend of ours. This was actually the first time we’ve had professional photos taken that weren’t at an indoor portrait studio and it was great. This post is part of a collaboration with PinkBlush. All opinions are completely my own and I only share brands and products with you that I love!

picking outfits for fall family photos

When I saw this gorgeous peacock blue dress from PinkBlush I knew that it was what I wanted to wear and base our color scheme off of it for our fall family photos. It paired perfectly with some mustard yellow tones I brought in and I love the overall look that came together. This dress is also so comfortable, just like all the other pieces I’ve received from this trendy online boutique. The hi-low length of the dress was perfect for walking around in the shallow river bank too!

Mike and I had always been hesitant to invest in professional photos with the kids before because we know how squirmy and feisty they can be, but Darcie was able to get some amazing shots so I think that more professional shoots might be in our future. Sorry honey.

a successful fall family photoshoot

Darcie was also really great when it came to my vision for this shoot. I definitely wanted to get some great family photos, but I also had a very particular photo idea in mind I was hoping Darcie could capture. I was a little nervous because it could have been one of those things that seemed great in my head but totally bombed in person. Luckily, I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.

SURPRISE!

Well, not a surprise for us, but I’m guessing a surprise for all of you!

We are beyond thrilled and I will definitely be sharing more details in the future, including some ways that this pregnancy has been so different from my other ones. For now though, I will address a couple of questions:

  • Yes, this was planned. Call us crazy if you want, we’ve certainly questioned our sanity a time or two.
  • I am about 20 1/2 weeks along.
  • Yes, we know what we’re having. It’s a baby. Just kidding! We know the gender and I’ll be sharing with you in a couple weeks!
  • If you know what movie this letterboard quote is from you are my hero.

By the way, now I can say how amazing this dress really is. It is indeed a maternity dress from PinkBlush, but I think I’ll be able to wear it after baby too as I’ve already worn it a few times without people realizing I was pregnant. I can also tell it’s going to be very  nursing friendly, which is a huge plus!

What fun ways have you seen people announce their pregnancies?
