This is one of those party ideas I’ve had for awhile and kept waiting for the opportunity to actually carry it out. For so long I thought a special delivery baby shower theme would be so cute to plan. Not special delivery as in storks, special delivery as in the good ol’ USPS. I was able to help plan this shower for a friend of mine last month and I was so happy when the other co-hosts agreed to my theme idea! This post contains affiliate links, all opinions are my own.

how to plan a special delivery baby shower

simple red and blue USPS decorations

One thing that I really like to decorate with for baby showers are onesies. They double as party décor and a gift for the new mom to take home afterwards. I ordered some of the onesies off her registry that worked with our color scheme. Then I added in some air mail envelopes that I strung on jute and turned them into banners. I also brought out my fabric scrap banner that I’ve used several times for various parties and holidays!  I also used some leftover hanging pom poms from my sister’s bridal shower.

Of course, I’m a big believer in the food being what makes the party, amIright?! We decided to do a waffle bar since the party was happening at brunch time. It was just a happy coincidence that the strawberry and blueberry toppings worked perfectly with the color scheme, wink wink. My co-hosts had those neat Belgian waffle makers that you see a lot in hotels, where you can cook your own right there on the table top, so our guests were able to make their own fresh! We also had some fresh fruit and delicious quiche. Another friend made a delicious cake so everyone went home with very happy tummies.

more special touches

In addition to the air mail envelopes I also utilized the priority mail shipping boxes from the post office. No worries, I plan to use them for future shipping so they will be used for their intended purpose! In thinking about the color scheme for the party, I knew all the red, white, and blue could come off looking too “Fourth of July”. Or very superhero. I finally settled on having mostly white, then pulling in the blue. Finally, I added only slight touches of red, which mostly came from the red on the boxes. I think that route really worked and I was very pleased with how it all came together!
