My husband and I celebrated out 10 year anniversary last month and wedding season is still in full swing. My baby sister is getting married at the end of this month and we’re all pretty excited about it. Of course, that also means that I’ve been busy with some projects I’m helping with. One of those projects is making a rustic card display for their sign-in table at their reception. Keep reading for the full tutorial. DIY rustic card display

building your own card display

One of the things that I wanted to do for my sister’s wedding was create a simple and rustic card display for their gift table. I knew that this would work perfectly with their wedding theme and thought it would be more creative than a basket sitting on a table (no offense intended, I had one too).

Luckily, there are a lot of projects going on around our house and my parent’s house (who happen to live in our same neighborhood) and we have quite a bit of scrap wood and chicken wire laying around, so this project was nearly free, all I had to do was purchase a couple of hinges!

materials needed:

  • scrap wood cut to the lengths you want
  • chicken wire
  • 8 screws
  • staple or nail gun

If you can work a screwdriver you can construct this simple display. After attaching your four sides together then staple or nail the chicken wire to the back of the frame, then attach two hinges to the sides. That’s all it takes but everyone will be impressed by the awesomeness of your handiwork, I promise.

My dad is one of my favorite guys to work on projects with. Maybe I should pick up an American Greetings card for him next time I’m at Walmart too, huh? With my dad’s help this project came together in no time and I can’t wait to see it in action at the wedding! And by action I mean sitting beautifully on a gift table at my baby sister’s wedding reception. I think that this card display would also look great as décor in a dorm room or as a fun way to display Christmas cards!
