You probably know that I’m a big advocate for going camping, especially as a family. Whether it’s in our backyard or at a National Park, we love to escape while sharing some memories. how to make a DIY camping light

A couple of weeks ago I got an idea for how I could combine two of our favorite summer things–camping and Diet Coke–in a fun DIY that would be fun and useful! First you’ll need to pick up some 20 oz. plastic soda bottles.  What better place than Target to pick up all your camping needs, including your favorite beverage?!

Once your Diet Coke bottle has been emptied with its contents happily deposited into your belly then you can get started on making your own DIY camping light. I don’t know about you, but my kiddos always want to be the ones holding the flashlight or lantern. Well, with the fun Share A Coke 20 oz. bottles each of my kids can have their very own lantern with their very own names that I don’t have to worry about them breaking. They even float in water, which is an awesome plus when camping.

All you need is your empty bottle and some glow sticks. You can often find glowsticks in the Dollar Spot at Target. Just break the glow stick to activate it and drop it into the empty bottle and you have a light that will shine for about 24 hours.
