Revive Date Night

Table of Contents

It’s 5:00 pm on a Friday night and your other half should be home in about an hour. You’re excited because you’re actually having date night tonight, the first time in awhile, and there won’t be a fast food burger or cartoon movie in sight. No ma’am, you’re actually going to get ready and dressed up and have an adult conversation with your sweet spouse.

Speaking of which, you should probably start getting ready now. The kids had an early dinner and now they’re finishing up with their baths before the babysitter arrives. You are feeling so on top of things and together–you are totally rocking your superstar wife and mom status.

But you have two strands of hair curled before one of your children comes to the bathroom door to tattle on their sibling. Once that problem is resolved you discover that a mess has been made with the leftover pizza that needs to get cleaned up stat. Then another argument. A messy diaper. You can’t find the blouse you’d been planning for days to wear.  The baby is trying on your makeup. Then you can’t find your shoes. Kids are whining about being hungry (You just ate! You said you were full!). Before you know it your hubby and the babysitter are walking through the door at the same time and you’re still about 20 minutes away from being as ready as you’d like (and there’s no way you have time to do your nails now) plus you’re so flustered and annoyed that you aren’t even in the mood to go out anymore anyway!

Revive Date Night

Sound familiar at all? Maybe just a little bit? Maybe a lot bit?

I am a firm believer that date night is important, even more so after you’ve tied the knot! However, with four little ones age seven and under at home I am well aware that it can be a struggle to have regular date nights. Time, finances, babysitters; these are just some of the obstacles that can block your path.

This month will mark ten years of marriage for Mike and I and I knew I wanted to do something special here on the blog to celebrate. Several months ago when an idea started brewing for a blog series about date nights I couldn’t let it out of my head, but I knew I would need some awesome fellow bloggers to make the series really great. That’s why I’m so excited to announce that I’ve teamed up with my friends Kailei from Two Best Friends in Love and Amberly from A Prioritized Marriage to bring you #ReviveDateNight–a month long series that will take place every Friday in June. We’ll share tips, fun ideas, and maybe even a giveaway (stay tuned!) all focused on getting out of a rut and putting some focus and fun on your date nights.

We hope that you’ll join us, not just on our blogs every Friday, but on social media too! We want to see what you’re doing to #ReviveDateNight (keep it clean please!) so use the hashtag so we can all find each other.
