All of my kids love going to the park. It’s hard to beat free entertainment that all the kiddos from my oldest to my youngest love! Now that we’re finally starting to have nicer weather we’ve been getting out more and more and we love when we stumble across a new park that blows us away with its awesomeness. When we lived in Lubbock, Texas there were some incredible parks that we really loved exploring. Now we enjoy finding some great gems in our own backyard. Here are some of our favorite Placer County parks for all my local families!

Fun Placer County parks to visit with your kids.

Placer County Parks

Quarry Park

Quarry Park has been going through some updates and developments over the past few years. Located in Rocklin we first discovered it four years ago or so when we were looking up splash pads in the area. This used to be our favorite local splash pad, but they took it out due to the drought that the state was going through.

Splash pad or no, it’s still a great place, with a play structure, walking trails, amphitheater, pond, and large field that’s perfect for kite flying (as my kids found out). There are public restrooms and drinking fountains too, which are always good where my kids are concerned! The beautiful setting makes for some great photo ops so make sure you have your camera ready!

 Auburn Recreation Park

Auburn Recreation Park is large and has something for everyone! This park boasts two separate playground areas that are connected by either a walking path or by driving down the street between parking lots. In addition to the great playground areas there are ball fields, bocce ball courts, basketball courts, a covered picnic area, and a public pool.

In the summer they host outdoor movie nights which we’ve done with our children a few times and are always fun. I personally prefer the playground that’s closer to baseball fields, it’s a little larger with more to do. The Recreation Park is located relatively close to Old Town Auburn, so it makes a short, pretty drive off the freeway.

Foresthill Leroy E. Botts Memorial Park

We discovered Leroy E. Botts Memorial Park shortly after my husband bought his dental practice in Foresthill. This park has a picnic and bbq area, large playground (with a separate play structure for younger and for older kids), horseshoe pits, ball fields, basketball courts, and tennis courts. It’s a great park that’s nestled back from Main Street under beautiful trees. The bathrooms are seasonal so be aware of that.

Blue Anchor Park

As far as parks go, Blue Anchor park is pretty small and simple, but it does also have a skate park for older kids to enjoy! The great thing about this park is really its location since it’s within walking distance (we’re talking very close proximity) to various food places AND some great painted walls that give a nod to the town’s agricultural history. With so much do right in the area it can really be a fun day trip with your little ones, just don’t forget you camera!

Folsom City Lions Park

Okay, true, this park isn’t in Placer County but I just had to include it. Located in nearby Sacramento County, we recently discovered this park when we went to the Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary right next door. We had been to the Folsom Zoo before and I had seen a park in the distance, but I’d always been too busy or tired to take my kids after dragging them through the zoo. I was so glad that I told them they could have “just 10 minutes!” last time and we were able to explore this fun park!

There are two different play areas that are right next to each other so there is plenty of room to play for everyone. One of the play areas is even handicap accessible and my kids actually liked that area the most! Bathrooms and water fountains are located right outside the zoo entrance so you’ll always have access should the need arise.
