“And his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” ~Isaiah 9:6

Spring has sprung and Easter is less than a month away. Children are starting to dream about marshmallow chicks and chocolate bunnies. Egg hunts and Easter brunches are being planned. New Sunday dresses are being bought and visits to see the Easter Bunny at the mall are being scheduled.

All of that’s fun and exciting, but what about the true purpose of the Easter season? I’ve been trying to be better about my personal scripture study lately, and as I’ve been trying to improve my own study habits I can’t help but think about my father and how he studies the scriptures.

My father is an excellent example of someone who both knows and loves the scriptures. Growing up there’s not a day that I can recall that he missed his morning scripture study. I’m sure there was a day here or there, but it was such a regular occurrence to see him sitting at the breakfast table with his scriptures open next to his bowl of cereal or fried eggs that I don’t remember it not happening. Like eating your breakfast or brushing your teeth, for my dad reading the scriptures is just part of the routine.

My dad not only knows the Word of God, but he loves to share it with everyone. I wish I had appreciated his comments and insights more when I was younger and still living at home as he’d share little gems that he had come across in his scripture reading that day. I might not have appreciated it then but his testimony of scripture study is something that has always stuck with me. As I’ve grown older I’ve increased in faith and knowledge, and my father’s diligent scripture study is definitely one of the building blocks of my own testimony.

I believe that scripture study, along with prayer, creates a solid foundation for a strong family and solid home life. So as I’ve been trying to commit to a better study routine I decided to create some bookmarks and I wanted to share the printable with all of you! There are four bookmarks to a page featuring two different designs, both of which feature a floral watercolor image that is a free download and can be found via angiemakes.com. Both designs are inspired by mormon.org’s Easter campaign this year, which is all about the #PrinceOfPeace, Jesus Christ. The campaign officially begins next Thursday on March 30. Over the course of the campaign the focus will be on eight core principles that will help bring you closer to our Savior, Jesus Christ, and can help lead you to peace in your life. Those eight key principles are:

Faith

Compassion

Forgiveness

Repentance

Gratitude

God’s Word/Scripture

Prayer

Hope

If you’d like to participate in the #PrinceOfPeace campaign then throughout the month of April share your story of someone in your life that exemplifies one of these characteristics–and be sure to use #PrinceOfPeace in all your posts so we can follow along with you! Feel free to share in a blog post or on any of your social media channels. Remember, this is a worldwide campaign and people from all nations will be sharing their testimonies of Christ! And be sure to get your free bookmarks here!
